Death Competency Research and Evaluation

As academic practitioners, we know that a strong evidence base and effective evaluation are crucial to ensuring the sustainability and lasting benefit of training or interventions. We also recognise that you may be coming to our website wondering 'do my staff/colleagues really need this training or support?'. We can help you to discover your starting point - death competency is a straightforward concept to measure and we are experienced in the following research techniques:

  • Conducting semi-structured interviews with healthcare professionals to identify training and support needs
  • Using online surveys to record a 'baseline' level of death competency prior to training and/or intervention
  • Using mixed methods approaches to create an in-depth picture of death competency individually, across a staff team, and between professional roles
